im not sure if mages have the BEST advantage over the other classes in the game as they are good for mob hunting during the first little while.. but after.. they still lack in PVP ablities and they sorta get wacked hard on soloing past level 20...

maybe for mob killing they're ok .. but for pvp.. they are crap.... actually i think pvp is so screwed since it doesnt make sense that people should be able to heal after heal =P it takes like 5 guys to kill one dude at the same level =P its like 5 jedis fighting a sith and it takes forever to fight =P

when you level up is there anything you need to do? buy new skills etc? or are they given to you at certain lvls?
Fossilu wrote: when you level up is there anything you need to do? buy new skills etc? or are they given to you at certain lvls?
For spells, you need to purchase it. The reason of mage can kick ass (at least before Lvl30) is unlike CB, Physical Defense is no longer acting as Magical Defense when attack by magic. Also Mage armor now has increase attack power, increase FP and increase attack range. They have higher physical defesne than ranger armor also. Same level PvP mage vs others sure mage can win (before Lvl30).

I think that mages are great at mid levels. And probably they can be good for one-on-ones but if they fight in the chip wars... they are the most probable targets for double weapon warriors or ensnaring(holding) rangers / Accre Launchers too. If you are starting new... I suggest that you level ALL your PTs as soon as possible... Several equips advisable would be: -A dagger/mace (since it takes only one hand to weild) with shield... [ to raise close combat and shield PT ] * note: Shield PT only gains point of you successfully block * -A good bow/ gun -AND a good staff to raise magical damage... If you prefer combat without magic I suggest you still buy several Force skills (sorry for accre): -Exertion is good for close-ranged combat since it raises your aspd(attack speed) [and raises your holy/dark force PT] -Sacrifice is also nice so you would only need to buy red potions or the ones for HP then sacrifice HP for MP. * note: don't worry that in the beginning you will have to sacrifice more HP for less MP but it will rise as the skill levels * -(forgot the name) but there is this spell that decreases your magical/ force usage delay. it is good for PT leveling. and for buffing allies too. Another point: double weapons raise your XP faster than a shield and dagger would but that wouldn't raise your Shield PT. and it is a damned hard job to catch up with a low shield PT when you're a high leveler already. For accres: I suggest you level the same way but since you don't have force, I suggest you bring boosters/chargers(potions) and bring as much as you can. Three blocks of 99 potions should be enough. Oh! and spam as much skill as you can. so that they level up too so bringing a few blue chargers for accre would be advisable. bells and corites don't need them since they've got Sacrifice. Shining cut is nice. This is my Point of View as I have just so recently played RF.. Any expert opinions would be gladly appreciated. Please don't take this as any form of pride. I am a humble servant of DECEM. Talnar corite warrior Flesh once weak has been changed for steel. Talanar accre ranger
