Disappointed by wow, lots of people I know make a break or simply stop playing the game. 4 millions is huge but lot of people stop (only after some months of playing) and are replaced by new comers. So I think if wow was better there would be more than 4 millions players around the world. Anyway wow was imo the very fist mmorpg for a large public in occident, now doors are open.

I think you also have to take into the fact that WoW is manily played by children under the age of 16. I know that at my school there is atleast 10 ppl that play it because they are new to the MMORPG and have been told by noobies its a good game. And yes for hardcore MMORPG playes its not the greatest of games as it is just way to easy. I've played Lineage 1/Lineage 2, Dark Ages of Camalot and a bit of Everquest and by far these 4 games have more substance than what WoW will ever have. It is a good thing that a MMORPG has taken of like this but just remember the whole community is almost entirely made up of the under 16 age bracket. I dont see why it was awarded game of the year for that achievent. If anyone wants to correct me on what i've said then go right ahead i like to hear criticism on my thoughts.

Dunno, gaming is now more popular than it was before. And wow came at the right time; helped by the biggest media campaign ever for a mmorpg. The paying methods also openned the way to non mmorpg world familiar people (prepaid card, etc). Edit : no daniel I think you're, in some way, right. But it's not only child, there are a lot of newbies (who could be adults) as you say. I've got a big time of /played in wow, and indeed there isn't a lot of substance, a lot of promises were made by blizzard and after months only a few came. And I don't want to wait (and pay) 6 months again to see some good pvp content (that's how it was shown I think, "a pvp game").
Seriously my forsight see them making more games in the same genre an taking over the world!
 If you think about it mate the only real reason Blizzard made WoW is because Warcraft 3 was already a big success and they figured they could make an RPG based game around. pretty much all they did was convert stratergy to RPG and i dont see them doing that with any of their other games any time soon. They would have to start from scratch again to make annother MMORPG and i relly dont think they would wanna invest that much time into a game when they already have a very successfull stratergy/rpg/shooter offline range already around. Maybe if they had kept the guys who had done Diable 2 they might have created Guildwars LOL (for ppl who dont know some of the designers of Diablo 2 helped to created Guildwars).

You right about them not doing it to any others anytime soon atleast, the koreans would kill them if SC2 was a MMO instead of a RTS. SC2= Starcraft 2 I was just making comparison about how most there games cant be made into MMORPGs to support your point. For example starcraft was a typical zerg stratergy game, converting it into a MMORPG would be incredibly hard if not impossible without screwing something up big time. Starcraft 2 isnt even in developement yet, hugh group of people wanting it to be made however. So i really cant say anything but sc2 is a dream

i think it would be pretty damn easy to convert starcraft to a MMORPG, change skins with WoW, change the environment, add some more skills, make it harder to level up. Hey might actually make it a half decent game World of Starcraft lol And a starcraft 2 would be pretty damn good, but for now i am happy with Starcraft Ghost
