I've been trying to look at class trees/skill trees to figure out what would suit me best to play as support (buffer, healer, etc.). I try to always play the support class in MMO's because it's fun to be what people always need and enjoy having around, and avoid being an over-done majority (as I expect Bellatos will be).

My basic guess as of now is a Cora, seeing as they get magic and all, but would like some more information on how the skill/class trees go, or even a link if anyone knows of any.

From memory, the Cora study dark magic, and the best 'support class' i think in RF would be Bellato Spiritualist. I think they also study light magic as well as technology.

I could be wrong though, you might wanna check out the RF.ph forums, they would have the answer.

Bellato Spiritualist has more support spells than Cora Spiritualist. However, playing support role in RF online is very diffult. The system design for supporting other players is not friendly at all. This is due to the very poor targeting system design. It's a bit easier for Bellato Spiritualist, since they have a direct heal spell, which they can use and target party members. However, for Cora Summoners, the only class that can heal others using the Animus Enane, is very frustrating. This is because you have to order Enane to repetitively heal your target. This also means if you have a party member selected, your character can't do anything but standing around looking like an idiot. Which is the flaw of the targeting system, if the targeted foe is not selected, you cannot auto-attack the target. There is a way around this and that's using Force spells, however, it is very frustrating to perform manual attack all the time.

In any case the game doesn't seem to have a design for support role, since buffs is limited to 8 max. So there isn't much room for other buffs by other class, when each individual class type has one or two hands full of selfbuffs.

So even though the targetting system sucks, is there still a big need for support? 90% of the MMO's I've played, anywhere past the "newb" stages you almost require a healer to make any *safe* or *effective* progress. So would I still be effective in parties for being support, or would people rather just grab another DD or something?

There is no designated Healer in 90% of the groups I've seen. It's usually 1 or 2 tank and the rest are all DD. Like I said, most of the skills in this game have very little support for other players. In most cases, players perfer to buff themselves instead of having others done on to them. This is because in order to level up your buffs, the player has to use it on themselves. So if you're looking forward to being a Healer or a Buffer in this game, there really isn't such a specific class. Most group would rather have a player help do damage than to stand around healing or buffing.

Well, thanks for your information. Looks like I'll have to find some other way of being unique.
