Step Two - selecting race select your race: bellato, cora or accretia
Step Three - selecting build (warrior, spiritualist, ranger, specialist)
Warriors : rely on vitality as their basis for fighting, they mainly use close ranged weapons for their attack. The weapons they can use are only closed range and they can use armour/sheilds with high defense. Also, they are more specialized in close ranged attacks (ie. their attack power may be greater), another speciality of warriors is they can use all of the close ranged attack skills.
Rangers : They have improved concentration and agility to have the power to attack from a distance. They are mainly equipped with long ranged weapons, and they use their high attack speed to attack enemies. They mainly use light armours, and apart from being able to use all the long ranged skills, another speciality of rangers is they can use various arrows and ranged weapons as the means for their attack.
Spiritualists : they use their high intelligence as the basis for their attack. Besides the Accretian Empire, ther other races (Cora, Bellato) can use magic. Compared to other jobs/builds, they have greater skill/ability power, they use their magic staffs/rods for weapons to increase their magic power, the equipment they wear has the same ability to increase their magic power as well.
Specialists : they are catagorized as warriors, however there are specialized skills that come with this class/job/build. They are a mining, crafting, creating kind of class, the type of specialist varys within each race and each specialist has his/her different areas/levels of ability.

Moving
[img]
Simple. To move, use the up, down, left, right keys on your keyboard or click with your left mouse button.
Running/Walking
In RF Online, you can either walk or run when moving. Even though you will move faster when running, it will take up some of your stamina (SP), walking does not do this, but it is slower. If you want to toggle between walking and running, press ctrl+w.
Teleporting
[img]
There is also another way of getting around, teleporting. When using portals, they can teleport you to distant areas. To teleport, move to where the portal is and stand on it, this will prompt for the teleport choices window. When you see this window, select the area you want to go to to teleport to it.
Teleporting back to town
After hunting, or when having the need to return back to town, you can use the "return to city ticket" (comment: this is a direct translation of the item) to immediately return to the city instantly. There are various types of this item and can be bought from the misc. merchant ("雜貨商人"). To use this item, open your inventory and right click on the item. Because this item will dissapear once used, make sure you keep check of how many you have in your inventory.
Attacking/Battle
Player vs. Monsters
1. Click on a monster to select it, this will turn the cursor red and a bar with the monster's name should appear on your screen.
2. Left click the monster again or press the space bar to attack.
You can either repeatedly click a mosnter or keep pressing space bar to attack or you can set your character to auto attack, basically once you've selected a monster and initiated the attack, you character will continue attacking it without you having to repeatedly press the spacebar or click.
You can enable this function by pressing ctrl+z, this will change the icon on the right of your HP bar.
Manual Attack (press the spacebar or left click to attack once)

Auto Attack : continuously attack until the monster is dead.
When you hit a monster you get exp (i.e you get exp every time you hit a monster). However the exp amount varies for each monster. If the monster is too weak then you won't get much (or any) exp. There is a function that displays the level of difficulty of the monster.
(from top to bottom) monster name, monster HP, level of difficulty.

the player is 7 levels above monster
[img]
the player is 1-6 levels above the monster

the player's level is similar to the monster
[img]
the monster is one level above the player

the monster is two levels above the player
[img]
the monster is three levels above the player

the mosnter is four levels above the player

the monster is five and more levels above the player
Player vs. Player
The attacking process is basically the same, except, when you defeat a player you do not get exp, you get "fame points".
