Hey, if you havn't already, I've got another thing you can add to your guide...
See if you can get a spirit weapon, mages.
These things heal your FP extremely fast.
What I do is I find a spirit weapon, and equip both my staff, and spirit weapon onto the hot list. Press the hotkey you equipped the spirit weapon to, and regenerate your FP. This will decrease on the amount of FP potions you buy.

Very nice guide, thanks for the info :-) I was just wondering, which race does more damage, Cora or Bellato Mages? And if Cora, is there a disadvantage to being a Mage?

Cora mages have buffs to increase force attack damage, so I believe they would do most damage. Being a mage in either race is no different other than the dark and holy spells.

Thanks a lot yama, I guess I'll stick with being a Cora Mage. I'm sure the beginners guide still applies. One more thing, in a hawt mage on mage.. bellato vs cora duel.. who do you think would win? ops:

The one with most pots or highest level would win.

This is just a beginners guide.. some played probley will disagree when reading this .. but this is through my small lvl 16 Bellato Mage which I have dedicated to learning skills for the benifit for all RFB members to read about =)

First of.. Mages are NOT an easy class... *yes im trying to scare you off not to play mage j/k*... Im listing the downfalls of the mage because i wouldnt want most of you to rush into this profession thinking ull have super powers in a week or so... *though it is possible.. u would have to play like crazy*... heres some point for notes on the downfall of the mage:

~ VERY HIGH COSTING!! ... i would declare mages have the most expensive profession.. sure rangers have to buy bullets and specialist have to buy mechs.. but mages have to buy their spells.. and EACH of those spells are just as expensive as any top notch weapon.. ranging from 55k to 200k+ each spell... *and thats not even venturing into the master class spells*

~ low life stats... not as low as specialist.. but low.. a soldier class will have about 1.5-2x more life then you normally..

~ hard to solo... ull be doing alot of hit and running... u could just could stand there and use ur potions but... thats a waste of money.. and money is something u want to keep...

well ive listed 3 main points i believe that are the mages reason for being hard and slow to level... now.. if that isnt enough to stop you then... on additon:

ACCRETIA CAN NOT USE MAGIC! .. there have been previous post asking can the robots use magic... well.. can your can openner blast balls of magic? =P answer is no... sorry.. like most fantasy explanations.. anything thats not "living" or having spirtual energy can not use magic... so if u want to be a great big robot with elemental fist of flaming fury.. sorry .. go invent a new game =P

finally.. those that actually stayed to read this far.. probley are either still intrested in being a mage or just have alot of time to read this =) *props to you people lol*

heres the good sides of mages *just to bring you back to the light side*:
~ mages have the highest attack power.. due to thier firepower and neverstopping levels of increasing magic power in the game.. it is hard to determan how powerful a mage can be... reporst have that u can do over 2000 damage??? *which in my books would kill me like 5x over =P*

~ a great support character.. later on i can see how usefull a mage would be with healing or effect spells as pvp starts.. every bit helps..

~ always a pleasing change to see new skills... inless your a none stop action kung fu player .. i think ull enjoy receiving new skills to see.. unlike other professions that seem to have the same kind of repitive action over and over...

~ a nice crowd pleaser... put on a light show every so often.. haha i had people clap and stuff when i showed off... *u paid 200k for a spell.. u at least deserve a clap =P*

=================================
OK for the guide... now that u know the goods and bad..*well not all of them.. but a good knowledge of what your getting urself in..* its time to start off on the mage road:

the triple S guide

1) Starting off
2) Soloing
3) Saving for the future

Starting Off
==============
When starting with a mage.. after your tutorial.. youll be asked what magic skill you want to start off with.. u get 2 choices.. one after another.. you get to choose from:
~ fire, water, earth, wind

the choice is really yours what speciality you want to do... *i would advise you to maybe think what type of character you are.. as it would be nice to get a high level score on that type of skill*

My suggestions would be water and fire.. fire being for some reason a major effective skill in the begining.. i dont think i didnt see a monster not afraid of fire intill level 5-6.. then water kicked in.. if thiere not afraid of fire.. then the opposite should work right? ^^b but u can always try your own style.. in the end ull probley end up with all the skills anyways =)

After choosing your skills.. remember to put them in your FORCE LIST.. push F or Ctrl+F to open ... drag the Libers *what the magic seems to be put in* from your inventory to your force list and drop them in.. automatically the force list will go to that element and activate the spell... *intrestingly.. u an bring the spell BACK out into your inventory.. maybe u can sell it to other people for more money after leveling?? ^^? never tried*

now.. after this.. you should start with a level 1 staff.. drag it to your weapon slot by pushing I or Ctrl+I ... after wielding it.. u probley wont see it till you tell ur character to wield it activily .. push A or Ctrl+A to see your char wield your weapon.. *normally in town.. u start off not wielding your weapons* if u choose not to wield ur weapon in town.. when u go up to fight.. ull end up wielding ur staff when u activate your spell..

NOTE: most element spells require you to WIELD your staff before you can use ur spell..

now.. ur almost ready to fight.. ALMOST...

if you closed your force list.. open it again... drag your spells in to your hotkey's list.. the choice is yours where you put it .. =) just keep it handy.. also it would be nice to keep your MP potions and HP potions in your hotlistbar thingy.. ^^ just incase u get beat... ^^ by this u can cast spells more effectively rather then opening ur force list and bunching up the screen =)

now ur ready to FIGHT!~

Soloing
============
The first part shouldnt have taken you too long.. now its time to walk out of town.. u can use ur map by pushing M or Ctrl+M to open.. u can zoom into your town to see where the exits are.. the little red arrow should show which way ur facing ... just walk to the exit of the city and let the bashing begin...

u should start off with bunnies.. they should start with 2 bars of difficulty... *to check difficulty click on the enemy with left click and u will be able to see thier life and difficulty next to thier life... in bars... 0 bars give no exp.. so beware.. and 4+ means.. beware... normally u shouldnt go for 4+bar mobs inless ur over level 10 and confortable about running like mad and shooting every 10second while running =P*

click on a bunny and just try bashing it.. =P ull probley end up half dead doing this...or more.. depends on luck at the begining.. by bashing.. u level up ur melee.. ull need this for your armor requirements at the begining.. =) so when u fight.. fight with magic and your staff...

now.. for magic.. click on a bunny and click your hot key for you first magic skill.. ... ... after a while ur character will launch that element attack.. *congrats u just did ur first magic skill haha* now.. thing is.. magic skills NOT ALWAYS hit.. ive missed rarely.. but.. it will happen.. now right after you hit ur magic.. hit it again... hm.. nothing happen?? RIGHT!.. all spells have a refresh time.. u cannot constantly shoot rapid fire of your spells... =P not only that.. u can not fire 2 of the same type of spells.. one after the other.. IE. you can not use fire flash .. then use fireball intill fireflash refeshs... HOWEVER! you can use fireflash and you can use an other element from water, earth, dark, holy, wind... so .. thus its nice to have 2-3 different attack spells.. that way it can act as a chain gun launching spells with nearly 0 time to waste... *4 is not really required as its cost $$ and theres only about a 2seconds to wait when u have 3 spells when ur not running* ..train your skills as they will improve on attack power when u level them =)

go buy eq as you level.. sell what u pick up.. =) except for armor that u can wear.. that will save u some cash.. u should get a level 5 staff after leveling =) keep it .. staffs are expensive to buy too =)

Saving for the future
========================
as said before skills COST! .. ive spent almost 2Million dollars on spells.. and no where near close to getting them all.. =P thats where mining comes in... basic killing mobs is not going to do any where close to enough for buying skills... thats why i suggest u save your money from quest to save around 15K to start mining operations... There are post about mining already so i wont go into that... =) u should start mining asap... =) as the soon that happens.. the less worries ull have =)

HAPPY spelling...
my fingers are tired.. =) ill add an advance guide later when i gather more info and time =P
