actually, you are missing the key item for upgrading. the items you put in there are used to increase the chance of successful upgrade.

the item you missing can be find by processing crystal mines at npc. i got 2 of those out of 300 +3 crystal mines. you need lots of money to process crystal mines in order to get what you need.

i am not sure what it is called in english, but in chinese, it is called "yu shi", which look like this



and there are 14 kinds of those, some are for weapon, and some are for armor.

i will take some screenshot next time i processing crystal mine and get some of these
